Now I know what your thinking, is this another "Grown Ups 2", "Little Nicky", or "Jack And Jill"? The answer is luckily: No. However this is not the caliber of a "Wedding Singer" and "50 First Dates". What we have here is a movie that was meant to be a cable movie. Blended is a movie that is not terrible but not good. Here's the story.
Adam Sandler plays Jim, a man who has lost his wife and is a single dad with 3 daughters. Drew Barrymore plays Lauren, a single mom with 2 kids who was recently divorced. Jim and Lauren go on a blind date but it doesn't work out as they anticipated, they end up hating each other. However, when the go on errands for their children, they keep bumping into each other. Another twists is that Lauren's friend is in a relashionship with Jim's boss! Jim's Boss wants to go on a vacation in Africa with Lauren's friend. Lauren's friend declines, due to the fact that Jim's boss Dick didn't tell her that he has children. She gets mad at him and decides to cancel. Somehow both Jim and Lauren end up going on the trip for free, but in different groups. (Not sure how this all happens, again, a cable movie). They end up seeing each other. and madness ensues from there and we see a love blossom between them.
Now I have mostly complaints and a couple good things to say about this film. Lets start with the complaints because I'm sure you wanna know. The first act isn't funny. They have jokes in the film they keep repeating that gets so old after the second time. Drew Barrymore's kids are so Annoying and such bad actors! Kevin Nealon (not sure what his role in the film is) has some funny jokes and some really bad ones. His characters wife has a really annoying voice. The ending was just one of those endings where they say, "we gotta do this as quick as we can!" Now lets talk about the good things. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore have great chemistry and give great performances. The girls who play Adam Sandler's Daughters are really good as well. Terry Crews(some random singer) has a really funny part for the times he's on screen. Sandler is really funny at times, same goes for Barrymore. Its directed well. The director also directed "Wedding Singer" so ya, it's decent directing. Overall "Blended" is a movie that again, If you saw it on cable, you'd say "ohh that wasn't so bad" I suggest renting this when it comes out on DVD. But if you really wanna see this that bad, go at a matinee. This is not worthy of a full price.
THE VERDICT
Blended is a movie that goes from terrible to forgettable. I give "Blended" a C.
